Boxborough, MA – January 27, 2010 – Artel Video Systems is pleased to announce that in cooperation with Media Links Inc. it has successfully completed an interoperability test between DL4000 and MD8000 Video Transport Platforms. This enables customers to take full advantage of MD8000’s strength as a networking platform and DL4000’s strengths as a cost, space and power efficient platform for edge and tributary applications. The test included operation between Artel’s DLC300, DLC170AD, DLC170DA, and DLC270 modules and Media Links MD8000-VIF. In addition to SD-SDI, DVB-ASI, HD-SDI, and ATSC, the DL4000 enables the transport of Composite NTSC or PAL Analog Video over Media Links IP and SONET networks.

“As ILECs, CLECs, and CATV operators expand their triple play networks, interoperation between platforms becomes a critical part of their decision in choosing equipment. With that in mind, Artel has been careful to design the platform with industry standard interfaces,” said Richard Dellacanonica President of Artel Video Systems. “This enables the DL4000 to interoperate with many IP and SONET based networking products including Media Links MD8000. We will continue this design methodology as we expand the platform.”

Boxborough, MA – July 23rd, 2009 — Artel Video Systems, a leading provider of video over fiber optics equipment, announces general availability of three new models to the DL4000 Video Transport Platform – The DL4042, DL4100, and DL4000P.

Expanding on the success of the original DL4000 chassis, Artel has developed three chassis compatible with DL4000 function modules. These new offerings have dramatically lower price points, making the renowned Artel quality affordable to more carriers who wish to provide pro-video transport over dark fiber. The DL4042 is a one rack unit holding up to four DL4000 modules and featuring fixed dual AC power supplies. The DL4100 is a small compact chassis for a single module with an external universal AC power supply, ideally suited for desktop applications, while DL4000P is a passive design for housing up to four optical modules. All three chassis offer the same dependability and ruggedness users have come to expect from an Artel product. With slots for up to four modules in just 1.75” of height, a single rack unit, and unlimited non-spaced stacking the DL4000 is one of the most space efficient platforms on the market.

“The development of these new chassis came as direct result of input from customers who told us they appreciate the great features, flexibility, and dependability of DL4000 modules but wanted more chassis options, both to lower costs and space requirements. DL4000 users can now choose from four chassis to better match against their specific needs.” said Richard Dellacanonica, President of Artel Video Systems. “We continue to be excited with the response to the DL4000 platform. Our focus on developing unique multi-function, multi-purpose modules based on a small rugged platform has been well received by ILECs, CLECs and Cable TV operators worldwide, while Broadcasters and Media companies continue to ask for Artel by name due to our long standing reputation for quality and dependability.”

Boxborough, MA – April 13th 2009 — Artel Video Systems, a leading provider of video over fiber optics transport equipment, announces the release of three new modules for the DL4000 Digital Video Transport System. The release of the DLC300, DLC170AD, and DLC170DA expand DL4000 capabilities to include 3G-SDI optical transport, optical protection, and analog to digital video format conversion.

The DLC300 is a multipurpose module for optical transport of all digital video formats from 19.39Mb/s (SMPTE 310M) to 3G-SDI (SMPTE 424M). It can be configured as a receiver, transmitter, or repeater and includes numerous features such as redundant SFP optics with automatic failover switching, ATSC to DVB-ASI conversion, SDI test signal generation, and dithering or scrambling of SDI signal for transport across optical networks. The DLC170AD converts Analog video and audio to SDI and AES audio while the DLC170DA converts SD-SDI to Analog video and audio ‑- both units include optical transport. The DLC300 and DLC170AD/DA utilize the same high power SFP (Small Form Pluggable) optics used with other DL4000 function modules in WDM, CWDM, and DWDM wavelengths.

“These modules carry forward our strategy of incorporating numerous desirable features into flexible, cost effective function modules for the DL4000. In addition the DLC300 and DLC170DA/AD are designed to interoperate seamlessly with other modules in the platform including sharing a common set of long range SFP Optics. This enables users to significantly reduce inventory and training costs as well as simplifying their network design and ordering process,” said Richard Dellacanonica, President of Artel Video Systems. “This strategy of developing modules that perform multiple functions has been one of the keys to the acceptance of the DL4000 Video transport system by ILEC, CLEC and Cable TV operators worldwide. Working with our customers we are developing numerous new multi-function modules, continuing Artel’s tradition of making the world’s most innovative and reliable video over fiber optic transport hardware.

Boxborough, MA – July 21, 2008 — Artel Video Systems, a leading provider of video over fiber optics transport equipment, announces it has received NEBS Level 3 Certification for several new DL4000 function modules.

Seven modules, the DLC100T, DLC150E, DLC170AD, DLC170DA, DLC200, DLC274D, and DLC274M earned NEBS Level 3 Certification after rigorous testing by a Nationally Recognized Test Laboratory (NRTL) certified by the Verizon Independent Test Laboratory program. With NEBS Level 3 Certification Telecom service providers may now install the DL4000 Video Transport System and all of its function modules anywhere in the core of their networks or at customer facilities. The certification includes passing the latest requirements for emissions spelled out in GR1089, Issue 4.

“NEBS Level 3 Certification is not only a requirement for Telecom service providers, but also proof the DL4000 is rugged, reliable and safe for installation in any network. The DL4000 joins the elite club of product lines where the chassis and all its function modules have been certified to meet the most stringent safety and reliability standards in the world,” said Richard Dellacanonica, President of Artel. “Our goal for 2008 was not only to meet all the Telco functional requirements for tariff video transport services, but also to obtain NEBS Level 3 Certification so that they can deploy DL4000’s anywhere in their networks. We met both of these difficult goals significantly ahead of schedule.”

About NEBS

Telecommunications service providers rely on NEBS Certification to ensure the operating performance and safety of equipment deployed in their network facilities. NEBS Level 3 Certification is defined by Telcordia (formerly Bellcore) and describes extensive physical performance criteria for Telco equipment. The certification process involves an extensive suite of tests designed to evaluate telecommunications network equipment in a variety of environmental conditions. Products are tested for performance in electromagnetic interference, surge protection, flammability, seismic, shock resistance, heat dissipation, and several other areas that ensure continued operation under stressful operating conditions.
